PREFACE

• The information available in this Civil List is as on 1st January, 2012.  It has been our endeavour to make the Civil List free from errors; however, the users are requested to bring to our notice any errors that they come across.

• This Civil List is meant only for use as a ready reference in respect of some basic information about IPS officers.  In case of any discrepancy between the official service record maintained by the competent authority and this list, the former shall prevail.

• We are grateful to the State Governments as well as the members of the service for their cooperation in bringing out this edition.

• Our acknowledgements are also due to the National Informatics Center, MHA for providing software support in preparation of this Civil List.

• Suggestions to further improve upon the Civil List are most welcome.
